About a month ago we told Kaya we were taking off her training wheels (kicking myself for even getting them in the first place - what kids don't know, they don't miss). She begged us not to, so we left em.
Last week as Aaron was BBQing, she says "Daddy, I want you to take off my training wheels."
So Aaron said, okay, he'd do that.
About 10 mins later, she exclaimed, "Daddy! Now! I want my training wheels off now!" in her Kaya-tude way. She cracks me up.
Because it's light when I get home now, we've been practicing up and down the street almost daily. Saturday we went back and forth about 6 times before Mom was worn out (umm, yeah - I'm not outta shape or anything). So I went back inside while Grace & Maya stayed out with Kaya. They were selling lemonade - ahh... youth. And might I just add, they rack in the $$! My little entrepreneurs... they had three types - Regular, Strawberry & Pink with the option of ice, additional sugar and lemon wedges all for $0.25! Most who buy, give $1.00 and don't ask for change. A great neighborhood to have a lemonade stand! They're saving up for a trampoline.
Back to Kaya - it wasn't but 30 mins and Maya came running in yelling that I needed to "come see this!"
She had been helping Kaya and wouldn't you know... was able to let go of the bike so Kaya was riding all by herself!
When Kaya puts her mind to something, she makes it happen. I love that about her.
Poor Aaron had to work Saturday - some stupid project to move a machine from B1 to B6. 15 hours Friday and another 12 on Sat. Ugh.
But I videoed the two-wheel riding so he could watch when he got home. Hey, at least it wasn't her first steps he missed, right?!?!
I bought New Moon for Grace and the girls had a sleep over at our place (Maya had a friend stay over too). I felt the urge to be the "cool" mom which is kinda out of character for me but I needed to show my girl, I'm capable. I'm always laying it on really thick for Grace and I need to counter that every now and then with some "reward" (for lack of a better word). The girls were screaming, jumping and hugging me when I told them what I had. Success!
Evan and Alyse are nearly all moved in to the new place. It's such a good spot for them. Nana gets her own room and they're right next to a park. I'm hoping a house in the neighborhood goes up for rent soon so we can move closer to them... although, not too soon. We're not ready to move anywhere right now.
It was a good weekend.
